Interviews for the appointment of a full-time director for the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L) were held in Mumbai on Monday.
At least five professors from the IIM-L were among those called for the interview. They were: IIM-L director in-charge, BK Mohanty, senior faculty members Archana Shukla, Anadi Pandey, Pankaj Kumar and Sushil Kumar.
Others among the interviewees were professors from other IIMs and XLRI, said a member in the board of governors (IIM-L).
The post of IIM-L full-time director fell vacant after the death of Ajit Prasad. He had passed away on October 31, without completing his full term. RK Srivastava was made director in-charge on November 2, 2018.
However, Srivastava resigned on February 18 this year, citing health reasons. Thereafter, BK Mohanty took charge on February 25 as director in-charge.
A few academicians raised eyebrows over the interviews as they were held a day after the model code of conduct came into effect on Sunday.
But those in the board of governors said the date of interview was fixed much before the poll notification.
“The appointment of new director does not amount to violation of code of conduct because the interview was scheduled much earlier,” said a senior official at IIM-L.
The IIM-L had advertised for the post of director in December, 2018. The eligibility criteria for the post is that the applicants should have a PhD degree from a premier institution, and have outstanding academic credentials with first class marks.

The director will be appointed by the board of governors based on recommendations made by a search-cum-selection committee (ScSC).
